The Australiana Series by Des Spencer represents the foundation of the artist’s journey, rooted in the very first original works he created in the late 1980s. What began on milk cans, timber saws, and raw timber offcuts, sold at markets along Australia’s east coast, has evolved into a refined body of work that honours both heritage and artistic progression. Now reimagined with greater depth and, in some pieces, touches of abstraction, these works pay tribute to Australia’s character, history, and rugged spirit while reflecting the early foundations of Des’ career.
